Abasi Hanif

Drumming Teacher

Abasi “Manblack” Hanif is a teaching artist, spoken word poet, and West African drummer dedicated to building community through rhythm and culture. As the founder of Livin’ The Rhythm, he has led community drum circles throughout South Florida for more than a decade, creating inclusive spaces that connect people through music and movement.

Abasi serves as a music accompanist for Palm Beach Atlantic University and is the African Drum Director for the Sounds of Success Community Band and the Drums Over Guns Youth Program. A founding member of Men of Blackness (Conscious Hip Hop), he is also an experienced cultural event host and organizer.

An accomplished writer and actor, Abasi has performed in stage productions including Sundiata, Pleasant City: Thee ChoreoPoem, Waking Kya, and Chocolate Nutcracker, and has been recognized for his artistic contributions with multiple award nominations.

At Mind, Music & Movement Foundation, Abasi leads drumming experiences that foster connection, creativity, and joyful expression through rhythm.
